SPRING does not know …
One morning as I walk in the park near the house where I live, I realize that spring has arrived. There are the first small yellow flowers in the meadows, which I did not know, being in the State of Pennsylvania (USA), but I recognize the first Forsythia in bloom, equally yellow and among the branches of the trees the first buds of flowers and leaves. In the air you can breathe an intense scent of some blossomed flower, but that I can’t see, there are many details to pay attention to around me. There are birds that I have never seen before, the Robins, they approach me without fear, it is full of gray squirrels chasing each other and jumping among the branches of large trees.
I stopped for a moment breathing deeply the spring air and reminding myself that it is the season I prefer and it always takes me by surprise, I smile!

Then I hear a whispering voice:

Spring doesn’t know …

It seems surreal to me, I am not the one who formulated that thought, I feel at one with nature, where does that voice come from that continues to whisper in an ever more decisive way that spring does not know? What doesn’t know?
After a while I look around, alone in the park are the trees almost in bloom, the birds singing, the squirrels playing and a warm sun. Then again that whispering voice:

Does spring care about us human beings? And did we ever care about spring?

It’s continues:
Spring does not know what is happening to us, it does not know about the virus, nature continues undaunted in the ritual of reviving spring after a period of stasis. Everything sprouts and blooms without stopping, without doubting in the least “.

I wonder, but will it be true? Maybe the spring knows about us, perhaps she has noticed that the whole of humanity is sick. With these thoughts in my head, I head towards the path that leads me out of the park and continue to reflect.

Now I agree with that voice, which perhaps came from my thinking mind, and I keep asking myself:
How much do we humans care about nature? Do we notice the big and small changes that take place over the course of a whole year? “.

Reflections from the park …

In our contemporary world there are few people who feel truly connected to nature, who celebrate seasonal changes, who know how to adapt by following a seasonal diet, who respect nature and all its beings, who are sensitive to climate change and who make choices to try to preserve the planet earth, which is our only home.

It is only us humans who are responsible for the sixth mass extinction and only we have made the earth, our true home and home of many animated and inanimate living beings, sick.

Let’s stop now and listen! We listen to what is happening in and around us. How is the planet earth and its ecosystem? How are we humans?

Now the time has come to bring our attention in depth, directing our mind to self-reflection, of how we have lived since we were children, until now. How did we grow up with what values, what choices did we make, what paths did we follow? Those of self-awareness giving value to every creature on planet earth, studying and informing us, cultivating common sense and helping others or those of ignorance, selfishness thinking only of ourselves, of our spoiled lives, acting in an irresponsible way manipulated and learning to manipulate?

These are just some of the reflections that we could bring to our mind, on which to focus our attention and meditate, we finally go deep. The moment we are in quarantine and we have time to reflect, study and meditate, there are no more excuses, we must not run anywhere, no planes to take, nothing to lose, we are alone with ourselves.

We have so much to learn from this collective suffering experience, now your suffering is also mine and that of my loved ones. I see the current problem as an opportunity and how do you see it? What reflections are you thinking about, what actions are you taking for the future of all humanity and planet earth?

As we take care of our home or room so we should also do for the planet earth, our home forever. Because when all this is over and we can leave our homes, we will need to celebrate the union with our surroundings again, we will be able to embrace our loved ones and we will have different eyes to truly appreciate the environment in which we find ourselves. Only if we start this transformation and awareness from now on can we choose to lead our lifestyle in a conscious and responsible way. Change does not happen, we ourselves must change and begin to implement it from now on both individually and collectively, there are many choices for our good and for the good of generations to come.

Not to mention the causes of how the coronavirus was born, but it is one of the problems of contemporary man and the blind way in which we choose to live and act.

Global warming will lead to a much higher impact mass crisis,

my inner voice says:
The effects will be ten times more catastrophic than coronavirus, imagine!

We already see the effects and continue to lead our lives without making important and immediate decisions, even if each of us can make changes.

It is known that there is corruption of those who have economic power in their hands and I would say that the majority of those who govern are not competent and responsible, do not think about the future by implementing changes now to ensure a future for planet earth and human beings.
We are too focused on our personal problems, without seeing that there are others too, we have a tendency to separate our personal experience and existence from that of others and from other existences. Nobody taught us that we are all interconnected from humans to animals, plants, rocks etc … What did they teach us at school?

Or we are too pessimistic, we don’t believe that even the smallest responsible gesture can teach others to open their eyes. We have learned to be afraid and judge others, we cannot do anything but listen to negative news, conspiracies, controversies, isolating ourselves more and more.
These days, the few times that I leave home I see that some people when they pass through the safe distance, manage to radiate loving kindness and smile and I reciprocate them with a welcoming smile. Although anyone could be the carrier of the virus, we must feel that we are bearers of love for our neighbor and united in our intent to heal ourselves, humanity and the earth.

And finally I have always collected the “wise” phrases of the tea bags and one in particular seems to me on the subject:
Plants have enough spirit to be able to transform our limited visions“.

E ancora:

Come stiamo noi umani?
